As an installer, you will:
- Review project plans and drawings and confirm all equipment and material needed
- At all times emphasize the highest level of quality assurance and adherence to safety standards and regulations
- Communicate effectively and professionally with crew members, clients, vendors and associates
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair solar panel systems
- Read and comprehend building plans for roof/ground mounted arrays to effectively build systems that are mechanically excellent, of the highest workmanship, aesthetically pleasing, and optimally functional
- Assess problems and implement solutions during the construction process.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
- Effectively communicate issues and solutions to supervisor
- Assemble and install roof/ground mount solar array racking, including properly sealing all roof penetrations, and installing all related mounting equipment etc.
- Perform all DC electrical work necessary to connect system to inverters including proper wire crimping, inverter stringing and installing home runs, low voltage installation, combiner box wiring and wire management.
- Perform general construction duties including measuring, use of hand tools, roofing, leveling, trenching, concrete, and landscaping
- Ability to apply an in-depth understanding of the performance characteristics of various components of a solar system and how they interrelate to field construction execution
- Knowledge and application of best safety practices and proper use of ladders and scaffolding
We are seeking a highly motivated teammate with:
- High School Diploma or GED
- OSHA 30 Certified, preferred
- Experience installing Enphase and Tesla energy storage systems is a plus
- Ability to follow instructions, learn quickly, and know when to ask questions
- Experience installing both roof and ground mount systems
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), Uniform Building Code (UBC), local & utility jurisdiction requirements and OSHA regulations.
- Experience with solar installation and electrical work involving up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
- General construction knowledge including electrical, roofing, and carpentry skills
- Certification with common rental equipment necessary for commercial solar installation projects (ie. Extended forklift, Bobcat with accessories, etc.)
- Clean driving record and background check with a valid driver’s license
The physical demands of this role include:
- Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold)
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs and work on rooftops of multi-level buildings as well as within confined spaces such as attics and/or crawl spaces
- Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
- Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills, including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
- Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
